UK’s Independence Party leader Henry Bolton broke up with his model girlfriend Monday following uproar about her offensive and racist remarks against American actress and Prince Harry’s fiancée, Meghan Markle.
Huffpost reported that UKIP leader Henry Bolton, 54, cut his romantic relationship with model and UKIP party member Jo Marney, 25, short after a “long and upsetting conversation.”
“I don’t defend these comments whatsoever,” Bolton said on Good Morning Britain Monday.
“At the moment it is obviously quite incompatible to continue the relationship,” he said. But “I’m going to be continuing to support her family because Jo is absolutely distraught by this.”
Earlier this month, Marney allegedly sent offensive messages to a friend about Markle, who is set to marry Prince Harry this spring; describing the American actress and humanitarian as a “dumb little commoner,” and called black people “ugly.”
She also allegedly said Markle would “taint” the royal family and pave the way for a “black king.”
When someone responded to the comments calling the exchange racist, Marney answered: “So what?” the BBC reported.
Marney apparently told The Daily Mail she was apologizing for the “reckless and unnecessary” comments, adding that her words had been ‘‘taken completely out of context.’’
But people did not take kindly to her apology.
Naw. That’s not an apology. You’re sorry you got caught. Not about what you said and feel. Disgusting comments. Change yourself.

Girl. @Jo_Marney you’re so trash. Your apology is only bc you got caught. You’re worried about a black woman tainting the royal family and it ended up being you that is the embarrassment of the Year. Trash. https://t.co/qctiQ0Id8Z

Bolton said he only began a relationship with Marney in December and wasn’t aware of the messages.
Marney’s membership in UKIP has also been suspended “pending an investigation,” Bolton added.
It’s “against the constitution of the party to be racist in any way,” Bolton told Good Morning Britain.
Huffpost reported that Bolton had been under pressure from members of his party to step down after news of the embarrassing messages blew up.
Critics added that his love life had become a ‘distraction and an embarrassment,’ but Bolton said he hopes to remain as the head of his party.
